Terracotta and viticulture
Terracotta is the oldest material used by humans to store wine. Today's use for vinification means rediscovering a tradition dating back thousands of years and at the same time increasing the value of natural and very contemporary material, which, when used properly, is practically eternal.
When we talk about terracotta, we mean the most famous Tuscan, excellent and high quality clay: Terra Turchina clay from Impruneta.
Terracotta from Impruneta has ideal properties for vinification and aging of wine: it is insulating and therefore protects wine from dangerous temperature fluctuations, is an inert material, does not transmit any type of taste, which distinguishes it from containers in wood.
To overcome the problem of the natural porosity of terracotta, which would allow excessive oxygen exchange with the external environment, which causes oxidation of wine, Massimo Carbone also implements an internal multilayer coating in Impruneta terracotta, but uses a special technique resulting from years of careful study and research. Thanks to this, it is possible to ensure perfect oxygenation of the wine, it facilitates cleaning and thus work in the cellar, thus eliminating any kind of contamination.
Massimo Carbone is a master in his field, he designs products for professional vinification with maximum reliability.
All terracotta containers can be customized our customers and decorate them with coats of arms, logos, dates or names, letters or names so as to completely satisfy your tastes and dreams.
