The large terracotta planter YDRA QUADRO is part of the I grandi Ydra collection - vases with water reservoirs - consisting of three elements CONO, QUADRO and FIORE.
The collection was designed by Sabrina Sguanci Baroni for Poggi Ugo terrecotte on the occasion of the "UpTo" exhibition curated by DcomeDesign at Fabbrica del Vapore for Milan Design Week 2024.
Four semi-cylinders located on the outside of the vase draw a supply of water, which, thanks to the natural porosity of the terracotta, is gradually released into the plant, giving it the right degree of moisture and hydration, while also giving the vase an aesthetic and symbolic aspect.
Ydra's large flowerpots are iconic and functional manifestos that explore the protection of plant species tested by rising temperatures in the connection of the earth-water pair. The circular and sustainable production that has always characterized the Poggi Ugo oven is in perfect harmony with the message that this collection wants to symbolically represent.
The large Ydra planters emphasize the importance of economy with resources, making good use of the natural properties of Impruneta clay, which maintains the right microclimate useful for vegetation and, thanks to its unusual and functional design, renews the controlled irrigation system. All this is possible thanks to the great resistance that Poggi Ugo terracotta offers even against extreme temperatures.
