They belong to the typical Mediterranean fish, although they live in a large area stretching from the British Isles through the Mediterranean Sea to the Cape Verde Islands. Trawls and rods are most often used when fishing with perch. Most wild specimens are caught in Greece, Turkey, Italy and North Africa.
