The story of the Braid brand begins in the 1950s, more than three generations ago, in Mogliano, a small town in the Marche region, where the talented craftsman Luigi Maurizi opened his workshop specialized in the handmade production of wicker products. His creativity gives rise to exceptional shapes and styles, and his hands, flowing smoothly through thin threads of natural fibers, weave unique pieces that are highly valued in the Italian market.

 

At the end of the 70s, Giuseppe's son Luigi joins the company. Thanks to his far-sighted vision
sees great potential in his father's workshop and decides to expand production into furniture and launch the first home furnishing catalog featuring desks, small cabinets, sofas, armchairs and coffee tables made of hand-woven wicker, reed or rattan, all suitable for indoor and outdoor use use.
 

This passion is passed on and shared with his children, who took the step to develop their family business in the early 1990s. Braid Lab is a creative studio that was founded in 2005 and has become a cornerstone of the company in the field of innovation. Its main areas of expertise include aesthetic research, product development and the selection of high-quality materials. After a proper study of stylistic trends and commercial needs, Braid Lab defines the project brief according to which it creates a new collection precisely. From that moment, designers let their imaginations run wild and start planning.
 

The Braid Lab product development process consists of sketch and detailed design stages, 1:1 scale prototypes, material tests, various manufacturing methods and finishes, size and shape changes, strength tests and final development. Once the best possible result is achieved in each phase, according to the company's quality standards, production continues and is introduced to the Italian and international markets.

Contemporary style, hand-made, refined surface treatments and the highest quality selected materials have always been the "silver line" of the entire Braid collection. Since September 2020, Braid Lab has been led by the artistic and creative direction of Luigi Martinelli.
